All-School Meeting Celebrates Martin Luther King, Jr. On Friday, January 15, fifth and sixth graders led a moving All School Meeting on Martin Luther King. Fifth graders recounted the milestones in his life, and sixth graders described events within the Civil Rights Movement and their impact today, notably the election of President Obama. We heard excerpts from King's "I Have a Dream" speech, and students from the audience shared their dreams for our world. The presentation ended with our singing "We Shall Overcome". It was a fitting celebration of a man who truly changed the course of history. Pictured above from left to right are sixth graders Elvis Parker-Jones, Adam Weyhrauch, and Carly Bonwell. |
